How answers are chosen

We write and rank every answer. The server decides what counts.

Who writes the answers

We write each question and its five ranked answers by hand. Crowd Clash is survey-style, not a live poll: the ranking is our best judgment of what most people would say. The daily drop gives everyone the same three boards.

What counts as a match

  • Capital letters, punctuation, “a” and “the”, and words like “my” and “your” are ignored.
  • Plurals and endings like “-ing” do not matter: “sleep” counts for “Sleeping”.
  • One slip is forgiven in a word of five letters or more, two in a word of eight or more: “shoos” counts for “Shoes”. Shorter words must be exact, and so must a run played offline until it reconnects.
  • A short form works when it points to one answer: “shoes” for “Running shoes”.
  • A different kind of the same thing does not: “jogging shoes” is not “Running shoes” unless we have listed it.
  • A guess that only repeats the question does not score.

Who checks the score

The server checks every guess and adds up every score. Answers stay on the server; a saved offline run holds only scrambled fingerprints of them, never the text. What each answer pays is in the game guide.
